  1. I wish I had gone with Steve to start with!

Prior to going to university in 2014, I had had some lessons with a local instructor doing 2x 1hr lessons a week at £20 a lesson. I think I had had ~30hrs of tuition before I said that was enough basically, we were getting nowhere. Nearly every lesson we were driving around the industrial estate in Louth. During the same time frame, my boyfriend was learning to drive with Steve in Grimsby, and he passed first time with the same amount of tuition before starting uni!

Post university, I got in touch with Steve at the start of 2018 about tuition based on my boyfriend's positive experience with him. Given he is based in Grimsby he was very flexible with me as I lived in Louth at the time. Often I would catch the bus into Grimsby and he would meet me in the town centre or at Grimsby Institute, other times he would collect me from Louth.

For the first 5-10mins of our 2hr lesson (charged at half the price I was paying before!) we did go around an industrial estate in Grimsby but this was more to assess what skills I had or didn't have, and to make me feel comfortable behind the wheel again given I'd not drove a car in 4 years. Well, for the remaining 1hr 50mins we were driving around Grimsby, to Cleethorpes and back, it was great! It felt encouraging to know that he trusted me enough to just get straight into it.

His lessons are very thorough, he pulls you over every so often just to give feedback and advice as you go, he provides help sheets which are great to study over, and he gives good direction.

Unfortunately, I didn't pass first time but that wasn't because of anything other than a misjudgement on my part during the last hurdle of the test, before driving back into the test centre, which meant I got a serious fault (I'd of had 8 minors otherwise). I was rebooked in relatively quickly and me and Steve just did a few sessions together during test week to practice things and go over anything I wanted to practice more of. In this week, I also had a 3hr lesson driving to Lincoln and back, and getting some practice navigating larger roundabouts which was great, it gave me so much more confidence before my test. As a result of this, come test day I felt so relaxed and comfortable behind the wheel that I passed with 1 minor!

Steve is honestly the best instructor to go with. Don't look anywhere else!

His lessons are well planned and very thorough, he provides you with a lot of positive and constructive feedback, he's very flexible and charges the best rates that I wish I had gone with him to start with!

    Thank you Steve!

Ps. Yes I studied English, sorry for the essay ????

  2. Cannot thank Steve enough, had 2 driving instructors before meeting him and benefitted so much from him. Not pushy or cocky one bit, don't feel like you're pressured at all! Gutted to leave him to be honest haha!

  3. Thanks to Steve Thompson and 21st Century Driving for getting me to drive something I've put off for years with your patience and guidance i got there eventually after just letting nerves getting the best of me on test day xxxxx

  4. As a parent I would recommend Steve, my daughter has always felt comfortable and at ease with him. Unfortunately nerves on test day got the better of her and she had to re-sit her test more than once.
Steve was adamant that it wasn't an issue with her driving more of an issue with nerves and he'd sat on a test with her to observe this.
Rather than continually take her on lessons in the weeks before her test dates he said he'd have a couple of hours with her on test week.
My friends, colleagues and husband were amazed that he has this outlook as it could be an easy way to continue taking money for lessons.
In my opinion this says a lot about Steve's honesty and integrity and that in itself speaks volumes about the sort of instructor he is.
His pricing and course structure are well set out and written down.
my daughter loved her lessons and we are both delighted that she's passed!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
    Thanks again Steve ????

  5. The best decision I made was choosing 21st Century Driving. Steve is a true gentleman who adapts to your personality which allows lessons to be tailored to your specific requirements. An amazing teacher who I would highly recommend to others.

  6. I would strongly recommend Steve as a driving instructor! He built my confidence so much from when I first joined him and I passed with only 3 minors, he is a brilliant teacher and gives you lots of tiny tips which go a long way.
So to anyone wanting a brilliant, professional and fun driving instructor you should go with Steve!

  7. Passed my driving test today, first attempt. Steve was ever so patient in teaching, very professional in his approach and quite easy to get along with. Very adjusting with my erratic working schedule at the hospital. Initially keeps you in your comfort zone and slowly but steadily helps you build up your driving skills to a point where even before one realises, they are all ready for their test. But Steve's driving lessons are lessons for life, indeed he teaches you to drive and not just pass a test!

  9. After being terrified of starting my driving lessons for years i finally started my lessons with Steve, within the first 30 minutes of my initial assessment i was in the drivers seat and driving on the roads, I couldn't believe it. Steve filled me with confidence and belief that i could achieve my license by the end of the year. I started in march and was passed by August, i would highly recommend Steve to any new drivers.
    Thanks Steve!

  10. After three different instructors I finally found Steve.
Prior to him, I was a nervous wreck and really thought I'd never pass.
Steve changed all that. He instilled confidence in me. He was patient, kind and really nice.
I eventually passed my test, with a love of driving. Two years on, I've never had even a close miss, thanks to how well he taught me.
Many instructors only teach you to pass your test, Steve teaches you to drive.
I can't recommend him highly enough, and I just wish I had found him sooner!

  12. Passed my driving test today, couldn't have done it without my main man Steve! "Top Bloke" seems to be the words everyone is using and its genuinely true. Great way of teaching, personal to each individual he instructs, don't worry about nerves either he'll soon have them out of you. Truly patient, humorous and an asset to the instructing community (no he did not pay me to say all of this, hahaha) I felt supported through my whole time learning with him and will be going back to do a Pass Plus course with him in due time. I highly recommend doing your lessons with Steve. :)
